KBOI 2 TV

KBOI-TV signed on the air in November of 1953. In partnership with KBOI radio and the CBS network, the station was an early pioneer in television broadcasting, bringing a trusted brand of television news and entertainment programming to Idaho’s Treasure Valley. In 1974, the station changed its call letters to KBCI-TV as part of a change in ownership. Then, in February of 2010, as part of an effort to reconnect with the station’s proud history, the original call letters were restored and KBCI was once again KBOI-TV.

Throughout KBOI’s 50-plus years of broadcasting, the station has been committed to serving the Treasure Valley with informative, educational and entertaining programming. KBOI-TV pledges service to the community with the slogan “Watching Out for You.” As part of this commitment, the station is known for its “Truth Squad” and other investigations, serving as an advocate for our community.

KBOI broadcasts local news from 5a-7a on KBOI and from 5a-8a each morning on the sister station KYUU-TV. Additional newscasts are delivered at 4pm, the earliest evening news in the market, as well as a full hour of news at 5pm. With the fastest growing 10pm newscast in the market, KBOI 2News is recognized through audience growth, as well as several state broadcasting awards and prestigious national honors. Recent examples include Telly and Edward R Murrow Awards, plus Idaho State Broadcaster Awards for Best Newscast, as well as individual awards for Investigative Reporting, Feature Reporting, Weathercast and Sports Reporting.

A key to KBOI-TV’s success has been the commitment to the community events and the people that make Boise so special. Recent examples include the annual Drive Drop and Donate Food Drives that have provided thousands of pounds of food to the Idaho Food Bank. Last month’s telethon for the Red Cross raised thousands of dollars for the victims of the Japan earthquake and Tsunami. KBOI-TV leads thousands of walkers each year in the American Heart Association Heart Walk in May and the MS Society Walk every year in April, and nobody does a better job of celebrating Boise’s festival season than KBOI-TV, as is evidenced by our “On the Road” broadcasts from the Western Idaho Fair, the Snake River Rodeo, The Canyon County Fair, Jaildi, our Friday Night Tailgate Parties and the Backyard BB2s that we host at some of our viewer’s homes.

KBOI-TV is committed to delivering the highest quality of news in our market. The station is dedicated to being the voice of our local community, and in doing what we say we will do. That is our promise. KBOI-TV is Watching Out for You.
