KATU-TV, an ABC affiliate, hit the airwaves in 1962 and will be celebrating its 50th year of broadcasting in 2012. KATU is a Northwest leader in local news, focusing on “On Your Side” journalism with original Problem Solver and Investigator stories, honored by the Oregon Associated Press, Nataional Association of Television Arts and Sciences, the Oregon Associated Press and recipient of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award.

In addition to award-winning KATU Newscasts, KATU broadcasts Portland’s longest running and most beloved local talk show, AM Northwest. On the air since 1975, AM Northwest continues to be a viewer favorite at 9 a.m. weekday mornings.
